PolyOil
Limited was formed in February 2000 by bringing together various
individuals with unique strengths from the polymer industry and
combining these with oilfield application expertise. The company
is committed to bring modern plastics to everyday oilfield use by
developing product with the pursuit of reducing friction and wear
to yield higher tubular performance downhole. Initially the company
was able to introduce its first product the PolyOil PolyGuider Centraliser.
Other friction reducing product ranges have since been designed
as well as some special application products, which have been developed
for specific client applications.
The company has a pedigree of polymer expertise as well as practical
experience of heavy industry material application which goes back
over 30 years. PolyOil is dedicated in bringing modern materials
technology to the drilling and completions sector of the industry
where friction, wear and inferior materials can lead to lost time
or failure. The product is designed to optimise the chances of success
in tubular running and at a competitive price too. The company is
dynamic and flexible and can look at complete engineered solutions
using advanced engineering polymers downhole.

Objectives
Our objective is to develop specific application products using
our unique understanding and experience of polymer technology and
allied to oil production knowledge from within our staff, to then
create commercially available products in standard and specials
ranges to meet the ever-increasing quest for product improvement.
Quite
often newer technology companies are formed from “oilfield
only expertise”, where the great ideas and concepts are often
developed and formed through “learning the new art”
and attempting to apply this (often by trial and error) to suit
the application. This can be risky, costly and unfortunately, often
result in failures. However in the case of Polyoil, the concept
was based on taking polymer expertise first then adding the oilfield
application expertise to this to be able to formulate the best materials,
designs and manufacturing methods to make the product.
The company has a polymer chemist, one of the industries leading
applications specialists, oilfield expertise and is partnered with
one of Europe’s largest “heavy industry” polymer
engineering manufacturing companies. This gives full access to all
major material grades and the facilities include several moulding
techniques, extrusion and machining facilities. Although tied in
closely to this 50,000 sq.ft. manufacturing facility, PolyOil are
free to draw on expertise from other sections of the polymer industry
where this is appropriate.
